Hi looking to upgrade my current ipad pro and looking for advice on the main differences between the pro and air, I can read the specs but looking for your advice on them for day to day general use ?
Thanks

What do you use it for?
Sitting on the couch web browsing email if I need anything else I go into spare room on the pc ( edit or scan photos, download) I was at one time contemplating getting a MacBook Air and ditching the pc and iPad

If you’re happy with 64gb of storage (I am) then I’d recommend the Air.
If you require more storage I think you’re into £700ish for a 256gb Air and that stage you’d be as well just buying the base M1 Pro 11.
I have the Air and a 2018 Pro and really the only thing the Pro has going for it is 120hz and while it’s nice I find the regular 60hz screen absolutely fine in daily use.
The Pro has FaceID over TouchID on the Air which comes down to personal preference. I am happy with either.

I just bought my wife a new iPad. Originally she had a mini, then I gave her my original 9.6" iPad Pro and now I've bought her the 11" iPad Pro. I used Apple's trade in and got £150 back for the old iPad Pro she was using so the new one only cost me £600. It's worth considering trading in your existing one.

She's only a light user, this will last her for years.

I recently bought the M1 11" Pro whilst on offer from Amazon for £650. Now that I have experienced 120hz I find the drop to 60hz on my old iPad very noticeable.

If you are trading something in I would check out other options online you will get a more favourable price :)

I wonder if a refreshed Air would also get 120hz? It’s said to be coming to the iPhone this year.

Personally I can’t see it. Furthermore, don’t be surprised if it’s only the two Pro iPhone models that get the 120hz display. My bet is the regular 13 will still be 60hz.

I have the new larger iPad Pro. I upgraded from an old iPad - 2013 or 2014 vintage - and it's a huge improvement. My mother has an iPad Air, but not the latest one, and she like it well enough. And this I can tell you: size matters. Having used the Pro, the Air is just too small.

And beware the magic keyboard: the edges are sharp.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had pro’s over the years and without a doubt they are the best tablet you can get, if you appreciate sound quality, you will be blown away by the pros speaker setup, on the 11 it’s great, on the 12.9 it’s insane, honestly like black magic. You can feel the sound through the chassis and it brings the bass back in a way no other tablet can.

the Mini led screen is honestly awesome. I had tab s7+ and the pro to decide between the two and it’s no contest. HDR 4k on these new screens are amazing, Disney plus can do Dolby vision on this thing and it’s great.

Really, if you can stretch the new pros are great.

Isn’t the speaker setup on the 12.9” the same as the 11”?

Setup is the same yes but as the chassis is bigger there is more room for them to breathe.

I had 2020 11" and the 2021 12.9 definitely has deeper bass and seems louder. Separation is a little better too as it's bigger. Not much in it but is noticable
