iPad owners upgrading to iPad 2?

Who is going to do it?

I am in two minds. I want a retina display on my iPad, and I don't know how far away it is. Some people rumour Apple are launching a 'surprise' something this fall.

I do like the fact it is thinner and lighter, I think the iPad is too heavy right now. I'd also appreciate the engineering of that smart cover thing a lot.

Ok, I have decided to preorder mine when they're open. I'm really going to appreciate the speed and thinness - web page rendering is phenomenal compared to V1

With the RAM increase, the reloading does not happen anymore.

The iPad 2 is also hugely faster at loading and rendering complicated website like BBC news and Facebook - a few seconds rather than 15-20.

It isn't 'pointless'... It is vastly quicker at even simple things like rendering web pages, and has a lot more ram which makes multi-tab browsing usable.

If it was pointless, there would be zero practical improvements on the last one.

I disagree with that too, It isn't 'fairly pointless' - substantial hardware upgrades and tangible performance improvements. There is a point to the upgrade.

Perhaps if it was a different colour then yes, fairly pointless.
