Ipad Pro battery replacement questions

My daughters iPad Pro (original version) needs a new battery. I will book an appointment at my local Apple store. Do they repair it in-store or do they send it away (and how long does it take?)

I hope it's still covered by AppleCare! If not, you could argue that it's a manufacturing fault and try to get a repair under your statutory warranty;

Not for an original 12.9 inch iPad Pro it ain’t. Mine popped about 2 days after the apple care expired and Apple tried to charge me £566.

Pay the battery rate (£85 - the website price includes shipping) and the device is exchanged as long as it fails battery diagnostics
