Hi there, had my iPad 2 around a month or so now, but lately whenever I close the smart case and return to safari, when I try load a site it does nothing, Why? I have to turn wifi off in settings then turn on again for the Internet to work.

Any help greatly appreciated.

TIA:)

Is this on the same wireless network? And does it happen whether you return 5 minutes or 5 hours later?

It might be a problem with the dhcp lease although if it's doing it regularly then it might suggest a particular quirk with your access point. Perhaps try a manual IP address and put your router IP as the DNS and see if that helps.

I have to do this with most of my Apple gear.

Right I'm using the iPhone as a reference here (also posting from the phone so bear with me) but I assume it's exactly the same for the iPad.

Go into settings > wifi and click on the blue button on the right hand side of your wifi network in the list. This should give you a settings page for your network. Under IP address choose static and enter the following:

IP Address: 192.168.0.99 (this is an arbitrary addres which should be high enough not to conflict with anything else on your network)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

The router and DNS settings should be correct, most home routers I've used default to this. If it doesn't work for any reason just go back into the wifi settings and choose DHCP again - trying won't hurt.

Hope that helps.
