iPhone 12 Accessories

So, my Mous stuff turned up yesterday..

The case is nice, on the sides at least, a nice tight fit but the back is very slippy, its the Aramid Fiber one so not sure if the others are similar, not sure if I like it or not.

Screen protectors, they say "Hybrid Glass" and are £26 for a 2 pack, I've got one of the tempered glass ones from JETech on there at the mo so will swap to the Mous one when/if this one gets damaged.

The car kit might work for others but the neck is pretty short and the mag ring is quite large so for me in the TT its a bit crap as I usually have my mounts on the small window on the door, due to the size of the 12 and the shortness in the neck the phone sits at an angle that's not ideal, also, when I close the door the phone drops off of the magnet which I never used to get with my old 6s and mag mount. I might see if I can find somewhere else I can stick it but due to the angles of the windows, I'm not sure this will work for me, if the neck was a bit longer it would work a lot better.

I have both the Apple Silicone and Leather cases (both black) on order for my 12.
They were slightly cheaper through Amazon Warehouse but still expensive for what they are however I am keen to try out a genuine Apple iPhone case. One of them will be returned as there's no way I could justify keeping both.

What's the consensus on the silicone vs leather case?
Both obviously have their pros and cons but I'm not sure. The leather case seems to have a more pronounced lip round the camera module which makes me think it won't sit flush when on a flat surface.

I have the same Mous case. The back is maybe slippy but to date it has never slipped out of my hand. I’m happy with the case. I also bought the car mount, the window sucker one same as you bought. Disappointed with it. As you say it’s short and the phone isn’t secure as if I was to drive over a badger it falls off. If I touch the phone it will fall off. This is whilst parked as don’t touch it driving (of course). I was kidding about the badger, but speed bumps and similar annoyances. I’ve since sorted a wireless connection for Apple CarPlay on vehicle head unit so phone stays in my pocket.

I too bought their hybrid screen protector. Sorry Mous but it’s too expensive and although it fitted ok the feel was poor as touch was at best, sticky. Took it off and bought a far cheaper and far better Spigen EZ Fit tempered glass protector which is smooth as something that is very slick!

How are people finding the apple cases? i got the brown leather one and its showing really bad signs of wear already. a little concerning for the price.
I got the black leather case for my 12 and it’s been fine since. Didn’t pay full price for it (£39 off Amazon warehouse) and even then that’s by far the most I’ve ever spent on a case. No way I’d say it could be worth £59 but hey I’ve had phones where I’ve gone through maybe 10 cases at £5-10 a case so if one leather case lasts the same time then it’s swings and roundabouts.
I think the silicone cases seem to wear better in the initial period but after a few weeks they apparently get pretty tattered whereas the leather cases soldier on. At the end of the day leather is a natural material so it will wear.

Just ordered the v3 case for the 12 from nudient along with the card holder. It was between that and peel. Will update once I receive it

I bought and fitted the following screen protector for my 12. I’ve been very pleased with it. The camera protector section is seamless. I cannot feel the join between the protector and the lenses

I’ve never understood the point in the screen protectors that have the cutout for the notch. Does not having the cutout impede the use of FaceID? I have a full front protector on mine and can’t say I’ve noticed any ill effects.
It just sticks out like a sore thumb, maybe it’s just me.

I dont know if it does affect the face ID stuff or not. The cut out on the screen side doesn't really bother me personally as its all just really part of the notch in the overall display anyway. I have a cheapo folio style case, so its all hidden most of the time anyways.

I imagine if you setup FaceID with the protector on, it'll work, if you put it on after setting it up then that's when I would expect issues.

These arrived but the colour of the case wasn't great. I was expecting a matt gray/beige colour but what turned up was a silver metallic with purple/pink tint. Have contacted support to see if it's possible to get it exchanged or just refunded.
The wallet is nice though, will definitely be keeping it.

I'm still struggling a bit with the Mous car kit, its just not got enough grab and seems to be very fussy with its ability to hold the phone if you are off position slightly.
For its cost I really think it should be better and I'd struggle to give it more than a 2.5 out of 5, especially as you can get those stick on metal tags that fit on the back of the phone or case and then have a maghold on the mount for a lot less and they hold the phone better..

So I decided to buy the Belkin 3in1 MagSafe charger, £140

Ordered it last night and arrived this morning even though it was meant arrive tomorrow. So happy with that.

Pretty impressive stand I must admit although not worth £140 but having waited for some time since getting my 12pro and waiting for something similar but cheaper. I decided I might as well get it as it will charge the phone, my Apple Watch and my AirPod pro at the same time.
Using the leather Apple MagSafe case and it works well, sticks nicely and isn’t loose and can be used in portrait and landscape mode.

Got mine in black.

Just thought I’d drop a line about a wireless charger I picked up for my iPhone 12.
Bought from the rainforest for a nifty £7 - admittedly it was a warehouse unit along with 30% discount however I’ve noticed it can often be bought for around £10 new when on sale or with a voucher.

The kick stand thingy is admittedly a bit naff and seems to be more of a hindrance than anything but it may be useful to some people.

The only reason I mention this is that it appears to charge at the full 15w as well as show the fancy MagSafe animation when the phone is set on. This may be old news (or not news at all) to some but I was under the impression this was only possible with the official Apple charger? I of course could be mistaken.
