Launch day iPhone 12 Pro Max.

89 cycles on the battery and down to 92% battery.

This can't be right, surely? Normally my phone is still at 100% when it's a year old.

You'll find out in about another 411 (complete) cycles, if it is less than 80% then it is not performing as expected. I am sure Apple will replace once this occurs.

92% - That's why I connected it to coconutBattery to see if that showed the same and to get the cycle count.
In that case, I would wait for it to hit the Apple threshold and give them a nudge. Or you can decide to be more direct and start the process now and go down the Consumer rights route.

I have a launch day 12 Pro that's currently on 99%. Generally ends every day around 40% remaining charge.

No way that battery should have lost 8% after 89 cycles.

My iPhone 7 which was new in box when I got it in September 2018 is still reporting 88% capacity.

Have you been charging via magsafe? I'm sure part of the reason Apple released it is to ensure the batteries degrade quicker from the heat and so then they can sell people replacements.

No, I don't have any MagSafe stuff.

I actually got Apple to replace my 12 Pro Max as it got down to 92% Health pretty quickly with about 110 cycles. Got an advance replacement and sent the duff one back. I believe the constant charging and discharging using a wireless charge could have messed the battery up.

My replacement phone, im just going to try and only charge it overnight and see how effects the wear on the battery. So far so good after 13 cycles.

Oh that’s interesting, I’ll have a word. Did they insist you do a full blitz and start again before they’d entertain the replacement? I’m loathe to do that because I’ve got over 200 apps on here and to start again would be an awful nightmare.

The person that I got didn't even ask me to restore start afresh etc. They did some remote diagnostic on my phone and I told them that my battery life was poor and it sometimes it was really hot when charging. Sent me a new replacement / refurb phone the next day.

I did a full backup onto my MacBook and restored onto the new iPhone when it got it. Only bits I need to set up again was my wallet and some MDM passwords for my works email and teams. Pretty seamless to be honest.
