Thinking of choosing this phone over the HTC Tough pro and SE Xperia and was just wondering..

With all the o2 contracts, when it states inclusive Unlimited Data & Wi-Fi, I assume that includes 3G (and EDGE?). I'm just making sure before i sign a 18 month contract that I dont get huge bills for my general net use.

Also, how reliable and well built is the device?

Thanks,

David

Yes, the unlimited includes E/3G etc... apparently the fair usage policy is 200MB but the guy in the shop said NO-ONE get's pulled up on this. Also have a friend who is using 800MB+ a month with no issues.

The device is very well built, although I have invested in an "invisible shield" as 18 months if a long time to have a handset.

How useable is it? I'd say it's in another league to the HTC Windows mobile phones (having been using them for the last 3 years). What Windows mobile fails to do is make the experience enjoyable. Sure you can get the net on them... but it's just a pain to use.

The iPhone gui is something else, everything is smooth / fast and easy to do. Internet is actually useable. It's more of an all in one device, iPod, videos, photos, internet, mail. The list goes on and everything is instantly usable without faffing around.

Get one, you won't regret it.

The device is very reliable from my experience. GUI is lovely and smooth, and the build quality is excellent.

Great phones.

My brother in law works for Motorola at the moment, a few year ago he was with Sony-Ericsson in the design department and he saw my iPhone at the weekend.

Wistfully he said that the iPhone is the absolute best for usability and for the front end interface, nothing else has come close to it. And that's from the competitors!

Just remember if you do go for the iphone it's by no means perfect. It has an excellent interface but also has flaws such as limited bluetooth, lower rez screen (half the rez) of the Pro, no QWERTY keyboard (if you want one) and poor camera.

On the flip side it does have probably the best interface of any phone, but really that's the only thing going for it.

The res is superb, and the iPhone does have a QWERTY keyboard.

UImmm the Pro is 640x480.. the iphone is 320x480 - half the rez and noticeable on zoomed out webpages ;)

As for a QWERTY keyboard.. no it doesn't it uses half it's screen space ( approx ) to simulate one.

But it is a QWERTY keyboard regardless.

The iphone is half the thickness of the pro? ..and the qwerty keyboard is actually very good. Much better than any of the touch screens I have tried on HTC phones.

Oh it is a pretty decent keyboard, don't get me wrong, but fact is you end up with (about) a 240x320 or 480x160 screen compared to the full screen on the Pro (when using the slideout keyboard).

The Pro is thicker than the iphone but is not a big phone at all. It's comfortably smaller than the older TyTN and about the size of many conventional phones.

Hey guys,

Just got back from the Apple shop, decided to go with it in the end. Impressed with it so far and the guy at the apple store was actually very helpful. Very happy with the device so thanks all for your comments.

Welcome to the iPhone family! :)

The difference is that when you play with an iPhone and see one with a few applications loaded on it, it has the "wow, I want one" factor that no other device has.

Remote, iPint, Facebook, eBay, iCopter to name but a few but there are absolutely loads and loads to choose from!

To be honest ive hit a brick wall with my phone and that's regarding imports of contacts. I can't seem to do it with any of the apps on the phone. Any ideas anyone?
