I'm a bit anal about my gadgets getting damaged and I was thinking about getting a screen protector for the iPhone 4 I've just received.

Do any of you use one with yours?

Does it affect the touch screen at all?

Are there any particular ones that are recommended?

Thanks,

G

I've just bought a phonedevil one for the i4. Will report back when it arrives. £8 for 2 delivered.

Ive used both the boxwave anti glare screen protector and the Power support anti glare HD one and they both are good screen protectors although i found the PS one to be a bit sharper than the boxwave screen protector...the PS one is pretty expensive compared to the boxwave one.

Anyone got an invisibleSHIELD™??

Looking at one of these from cpwh for £15.99 and was wondering if anyone has got one? Would you recommend it?

Thanks,

G

got any pics of them on the phone spawn ? the cheapo ones i got off ebay fitted awfully (sort of expected it tbh)

No sorry havent got any pics but tbh the PS is an awful fit too...i have a slight gap running down the left hand side of the screen which isnt protected by the scree protector...dont know why that is but when putting it on even the right hand side had the gap...so prob a manufacturing defect tbh....i couldnt be bothered to take it off and get it replaced as i got it from ebay.

Doesnt really bother me as i keep the iphone4 in a Sena slimfit leather case as it is

They are fiddly to get on and once dried they have an orange peel effect on the screen...i used to have one on my ipod touch but i took it off as i didnt like the feel of the screen after it was put on. Plus ive heard that the invisi shield peels off if you do the full protection kit ie the sides peel off.

Theres a massive thread over in the apple section...i suggest you have a look through there: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18155480

Ive got a 3G one on my iphone4 atm, will need to replace that! does the job though as the other one on my old phone kept the screen perfect underneath :)

Ah didn't realise there was an apple section!!! Thought it was very quiet about iphone 4's in here lol!! Thanks :)

But if the screen is permanently covered, how will you benefit from its condition when all you will be touching is a bit of plastic? Is this to benefit whoever you sell the phone to in a couple of years and to get an extra £20 for it then? thus passing the benefit of your purchase to them rather than enjoy it yourself?

Extra £20? Unscratched screen ones go for much better prices than terribly scratched ones :)

yeah but if you were selling a 2 year old phone, it wouldn't be that much of a difference. My main point is that someone buys an expensive phone only to save the 'new' experience for the 2nd user. Wear and tear is just part of life. Why not just enjoy what you paid for.

Is it not possible to enjoy it with a screen protector on it?

Of course it is...some people will take their chances and wont bother putting a screen protector on and some will...put it this way every smartphone ive ever owned has had a screen protector on it whether or not the screen is scratch proof or not...id rather be safe than sorry and yes my screen protected phones do tend to sell for higher prices.
