My iPhone is performing erratically

When being used it cycles from full signal to one bar every few minutes. Its not resulted in dropped calls yet.

It also happens when I lock the phone and takes a few minutes to get coverage and date coverage.

Any thoughts? The phone is a few days old. (02uk)

You are aware of the antennagate, the line in the silver bracket around the phone causes the phone to lose signal when held tight in your left hand? (iirc).

I think the phone is just sensitive to changes, they did change the way the signal displays (as in add an extra bar).

Not sure whatelse could be causing those problems.

No it's not antenna gate. This is my second iPhone 4 ( it has a case)

Literally the phone can be idling with full 5bar 3G and then suddenly drop to 1 bar .

(not being held etc)

I haven't owned a iP4 but since this is your second, how was the first in comparison?

I've had them all upto 3GS, and in my local area it wasn't uncommon for the signal to go up/down all the time, especially in & around my home. Work was always full but thats because the network antenna was on the roof!

Is this experienced in your home or out and about?

Where do you live?
When im babysitting in Birmingham centre this happens all the time on my GF's iphone, and also does it on my Android phone..
Cant see anything which could cause it, but clearly not the phones fault.
