Hi there mac people, my sister got a good deal for an I4 16GB (230 quid) and she want to buy the thing but i strongly advise against it, isnt it a waste of money investing in a 2010 single core phone?
Now, i maybe wrong cause i have never owned an iphone, but is it still OK for everyday usage and then some more in 2013? isnt it slow processing email/social media/maps and stuff like this? please enlighten me :D

Mines fine for day to day stuff, don't play many games on it so iv'e not noticed how slow it's getting compared to newer stuff :p

but £230 is a bit steep for a 16GB isn't it? i'd have thought a good 32GB is worth that much, thats what i'd sell mine for anyway!

Not a bad shout for a year or two, though try ad avoid ios6 on the 4.

Mine after a year is still amazing, but I stayed on ios5, my sister went to 6 in the few months before she got her iphone5 upgrade and it was a little too much for her 4 to handle.

Still a great phone!

Really? I think the performance is exactly the same as it was on iOS 5. The 4 is still a very capable handset.

Still using a 4 for now. It didn't get all the features of the latest iOS 6 update but you can substitute the missing ones, e.g. free Satnav with Google Maps, a (almost) Siri replacement with Google Search.

It does lag a little but I can get all my day to day stuff done fine, mail, 720p mkv videos, web browsing etc.

£230 seems very expensive for a 2.5 year old phone though that probably won't get the next iOS update at all. You can get a brand new Nexus 4 for that price and it's a far more modern phone. For £100 i'd say yes, anything more is a rip-off.

The next ios update is what would worry me the most. You're gambling with the prospect of buying an almost obsolete phone.

In terms of hardware though it's a decent phone. Obviously not as zippy as the new stuff but it's up to most tasks.

Ooooo! I had a go in my sisters phone and found it a little slugish (compared to my ios5 one) but I could have been wrong as she did smash it up a bit.

Still a great handset either way!

Personally I wouldn't, trying to use my GFs old 4 being a 5 owner is painful, but I guess if you know no different it's fine.

A 4S would be a different case however.

thanks a lot for the help, well she got it just an hour ago and am currently playing with it. 5.1 ios in it and it doesnt feel that slow except when browsing the web which i doubt she will do often...very well built indeed, but performance wise doesn't stand a chance next to my galaxy nexus.

Well she is an architect, looks come before perfomance lol :D

Then again though, I have no terms of reference I haven't played around with a 4S properly so. And to put it against my iPad would be a little harsh. :o
