Iphone 4 - worth it?

Jabbs was just commenting about the 'technology waiting game' :p There's no such HTC phone and when they do release a dual core variant, it'll be in the same ball park as the rest.

Moving from a single core A8 to dual core A9s represent a nice generational boost (we're now hitting the Atom performance envelope)

It's defiantly worth waiting a few months for a 24 month contract and your planning on keeping the phone over that 2 year period.

I would just get one now. The new one is scheduled for June but it will be in short supply and you could be another couple of months waiting on top of that.

Given that you say you are terrible with cell phones, the iphone is definitely the easiest of the bunch to use and the apps on the app store are more refined/polished and mainstream than those you find on Android.

With Android you need advanced task killer and have to faff about all the time. If you love messing about with your desktop then Android is OK, but if you want the mainstream apps/games that you see on TV and advertised and don't really care that your phone is faster than the rest on the market which offers no advantage anyway, then the iphone is OK.

The apps and games on the Android store are a lot more simplistic and light weight than the apple store variety. You also have the issue of fragmentation with Androind meaning device versions are all over the place so some devices don't see downloads that other devices can. It's a complete shambles in my opinion. I hate apple, but they own the market at the moment unfortunately so thats where the main development happens in the app world.

Trouble is then HTC will have a super fast phone out which destroys all the dual cores coming now and then its, hmmmm shall I wait a bit longer then it all starts again.

That doesn't matter. Apple will always ensure the iPhone has enough power to handle the software with incredible ease.

People who like the iPhone, tend to like it for the software and they wont care if it has dual core or not, as long as it gets some new features and the smooth operation continues.

HTC's next phone will be a Galaxy S 2 with an SLCD and Sense UI probably later this year. Meh.
