This has to be the strangest issue that I've come across in IT in a while.

I got my iPhone 4s at launch and since then I have found that when my phone is plugged into the PC it effects the site access rates in web browsers and the download rate from applications using the bandwidth of my connect.

My system is Windows 7 based fully legit, wired connection to the PC from the router as well. I know its the phone because when I undock the phone the connection instantly rights itself and works correctly.

I first noticed this straight away after I got it and documented route traces from three sites up until now since this has started. It doesn't happen all the time, its just at times that it doesn't work. I've documented about 30 sets of route traces over the course of the 5-6 weeks.

I think there must be some service on the phone bombing the connection or interfering with the PC but I cant work out what.

I'm well confused

Possible Personal Hotspot is on causing it to route via the phone rather than your ethernet connection?

Could also try a packet trace to see what is happening on your ethernet connection when the issue occurs

So it seems there is a ton of people having issues with the iPhone 4S on netgear routers in general and my model of router that I CANT change the firmware on is one of those netgears with issues.

My 3GS with iOS 5 works with no issue so bugger knows what Apple has done with the new 4S

Backing up to iCloud? Uploading loads of stuff will kill your connection. Had same thing happe to me. Turn off iCloud back up tha will sort it

I tried that one as well but no luck, this seems to be a general issue with the hardware that's in the iPhone 4S. I think I remember hearing about a change in the wireless chipset with this new model so I can only think something is wacky with it. Even Apple's remote app drops the link between the phone and the PC. Which is small fry to the issues its causing the now.

I have the same problem but it happens even without being connected. My bandwidth is being eaten up by something iOS related. Putting iPhone 4S on Airplane mode is the only way to stop. It's not backing up to iCloud and iTunes wifi sync is disabled.

My iPhone 4S is also losing signal every hour saying Searching etc. Very crap phone or very buggy software.
