iPhone 4S - the deal you got

16GB Black iPhone 4s, free phone, 900mins, unlimited txts, 750MB data, 24 months, £41/month.

Walked into carphone warehouse and got this today. Thinking of selling the phone though and sticking with a 4 as a mate is selling an immaculate one for £250.

Bloody hell you folks in the UK get nice deals!

O2 are being ******** here in Ireland.

I've been with them for 5 years on billpay, now if I "Upgrade" they drop my data down from 2GB to 700mb at €60 a month at an 18month plan.
They want to make me pay an extra €10 to keep my 2GB data.
Plus my insurance went from €6 to €12.99 a month.

I basically have to pay €83 a month to keep 400mins, 400texts and 2GB data with insurance.

Plus if I want the 64GB I need to pay 379.
O2 calls to South Africa are €3 a min as well.

Not happy at all with O2 at the moment.

I'm, probably going to jump ship to Meteor.
They're offering me 400 texts, 400mins, 5GB data, insurance at €9.99, 64GB iPhone for €99 and calls to South African landlines and mobiles for 45cent.

At 75 a month including the insurance.

I'm just waiting on when they get some 64GB phones in, they said I was the only person interested in one so far.

Hmm, I bought an unlocked iPhone 4S. I was on Virgin Mobile for £15/month 200 minutes and 1gb internet with unlimited texts. I decided to go to GiffGaff for £10/month 250 mins unlimited texts and internet. I phoned up Virgin to get my PAC code and they offered me for £7.99/month 400 minutes, 5gb internet, 5000 texts. I'd never use over 5gb of data or 5000 texts so that's basically unlimited for me.

Only downside is that Virgin don't offer microsims so I'd have to get another sim made as I've already messed up my existing Virgin sim trying to cut it down lol. I already have a GiffGaff microsim.

What do you think I should do?

Orange are still sending me crap through the post about "if you stay with us we can offer you this"

Basically

500 minutes
500 texts
500MB Data

All for £10 a month, what a rip off

Buy a mirco sim cutter off the bay.

Gave up waiting on Tesco, reserved one with Apple shop for tomorrow morning. Now to figure out which sim-only deal to go with.

Anyone here get their handset on the 15th of October from THREE?

Did you get an SMS recently from them about them sending you a "surprise" in the post as an apology? I got a small silver envelope with a free case in it, and a letter saying sorry for the delay of my iPhone 4S and accept this free case as a sorry, and also £20 off my next bill.

Glad it came a day late now :D

are o2 having some sort of joke with their 12 month sim only plans?

o2:
£16.50 p/m
300 minutes
Unlimited texts
500mb data

T mobile:
£7.66 p/m
300 minutes
300 texts
500mb data

3:
£10 p/m
300 minutes
3,000 texts
1GB data

o2 is just plain stupidly priced...

Trying to figure out what to do atm.

Have a 3GS 32GB. I can Envirofone it for £130 which will offset the cost of a 4S 32GB (£140 on Orange). However I'm paying too much for what I have at the moment - £45pcm for iPhone Extra 40 (750mins, unlimited text, 750mb data) plus insurance on top which is an extra £15. My contract's due for renewal next month. I've repaired my iPhone screen so many times I actually repair them for other people now so I'm half considering binning the insurance.

I want be able to hand over my 3GS for a 4S with the same capacity without spending any money & on a cheaper contract, pref with more data if pos but has to have unlimited text. Where should I start?

how do you break them so often? I would suggest if you're that accident prone maybe don't lose the insurance as you'll be breaking the front and back of a 4S rather than just the screen, plus I think (could well be wrong) that the screens are different and come as a complete piece on the 4 series meaning a smashed screen is a lot more expensive because you have to replace the LCD bit too.

On the contract question I think your only hope is to go with a ludicrously long contract or actually pay for the phone. £45 isn't a lot so wanting a cheap 32gb 4S with a cheaper contract and more minutes sounds impossible. You'll end up paying for it somehow anyway be it line rental, handset price or contract length.

I just binned Orange after 16 years with them.
Was out of contract on a 32GB GS, didn't want to get locked into another 2 year deal, so now gone with a 64GB 4S from Apple Shop and £10 a month GiffGaff Goody bag. Large upfront cost for the phone, but over the course of 12m / 24m not many operators can touch it price wise.
Added benefit is I can switch operators when I please now as well.
I must say, Orange could come up with nothing attractive to make me stay, the deals were rubbish.

How much are the phones upfront?

The 4's have the LCD bonded to the touchscreen/glass front - they're a pain to repair, I've repaired a few. I have a rubber case but they always fall on the screen somehow - no idea why I'm so unlucky! Rest of my phone is mint tho.

When I see £10pm being banded about I assumed they were available cheaper these days :( I'll go down to the Orange shop & see what they can do.
