I'm borderline about to throw my iPhone out. Putting the woeful battery life aside for a while my phone used to work pretty well.

Now though, even browsing for any length of time is quite difficult. Internet connectivity frequently doesn't work. If I do airplane mode on and off a while later, I get the ability to browse back but only for a very short period.

Is this likely to be my actual phone or my network.

I'm on Giffgaff 3G.

I think what he was getting at is. Say, 1000 people are around you on O2 / Tesco. They will get priority in using the network. So you may have full signal but you're only getting a tiny piece of the pie

I'd seriously consider switching to Tesco Mobile.

3G data actually works, although it is slow (that's O2 3G for you: it sucks). However, 4G is very good when you can get it, I frequently get 50Mbps and latency is low too.

Tesco Mobile are second priority so when masts are congested (priority is only important when masts are congested), it'll be faster than Giffgaff.
