Hi all,

Recently got my headphone socket/board replaced as the original one had the tip of a headphone jack stuck inside it and it simply would not come out.

I just tried listening to music with my usual pair of headphones and it sounded awful. I then remembered the headphones I have (E10S SoundMagics) have switch on them for modes A or B. A is apparently for Apple, HTC phones whereas mode B is for Samsung etc.

So I switched it to mode B and voila. All sounds great again and what I would expect!!

So guessing the guy who did the replacement either installed the board wrong or used a non Apple part?

Any ideas? Even though it's ok I still want it working as it should so want it to be in Apple mode really. I might one day want to sell it after all and it needs to work with Apple headphones (which it now doesn't).

Third party repairs always use Non apple parts - they can't obtain the official ones.

Ah ok well fair enough. But is it normal for them to use a part that essentially changes the behaviour of the iPhone? So I basically can no longer use the official Apple headphones? Just surprises me really. I can live with it though if that's common I guess.
