I'll be sticking with my jailbroken iPhone 5

It's probably just me but not having 5 icons in the dock is a real deal breaker.

We'll until they jailbreak the iPhone 6 that is ;)

Never ever going to happen, whatever excuse people give you its just about pure profit, you paying £80-£100 for the next set up when it cost apple £2-5 is 20x margins here, they would never give that up.

If there's a reason, it's likely to be that it would compromise design.

I can't ever see an iPhone with a slot for memory cards, but you're right.. They do charge a big premium for storage bumps.

HTC does it right, just another pin similar to the sim, I'm pretty sure they could design that very easily into the device, I think more then anything its why bother, if someone cares enough they can pay.

bigger handset equals instant fail for me, the thing is boarderline as it is and this 5.5" monster is heading into android phablet territory! Edge to edge screen yes big fat nasty phone no. who will cater for those of us who want a high end pocket size handset?

I think the 4.7" device is pretty decent size, would I personally liked it closer too the Moto X buts it still pretty manageable.

I've never had a chance to try a phone larger than the iPhone 5 but I have seen the Galaxy Note range and it's going to take a lot of convincing if I'm going to go for a device that big!

I hope both the 4.7 and 5.5 release simultaneously because otherwise I'll have to wait :/

Reading some of the stories over on MacRumours are a bit worrying. I really hope that the 4.7" and 5.5" are the same hardware specification, and that the screen size is the only difference.

Looks better when it's (hypothetically) properly assembled etc. In black I think this will be rather good.

It is about profit but it's also about design philosophy. Apple's strategy is simplification; they are never going to introduce the complications which come with installing apps to SD cards. There's a reason why even most high-end Android phones are getting rid of external memory - the proportion of people who care doesn't justify the additional complexity. Most people don't want to worry about whether something is installed to internal or external memory.
