Agreed, those borders look horrendous.
It is about profit but it's also about design philosophy. Apple's strategy is simplification; they are never going to introduce the complications which come with installing apps to SD cards. There's a reason why even most high-end Android phones are getting rid of external memory - the proportion of people who care doesn't justify the additional complexity. Most people don't want to worry about whether something is installed to internal or external memory.

I hope those antenna breaks are just as inaccurate as the previous mock ups... as they're just as fugly IMO!

Indeed, SD cards are much more reliable than the phones themselves, no one wants to lose all their photos, videos and messages because their phone stops working. Using external media for storing media is the blindingly obvious design choice.![]()
I don't see syncing 32GB+ of media over a mobile phone connection to be that practical myself, but each to their own.

Just nip round and use a mate's fibre internet.![]()
agreed but if you lose your phone, icloud is the way to recover it.You need to pay for that iCloud storage thou if its over 5GB, which today is very small. The cost and easy off use of a SD card would out weight that for me at least.
I have a hunch that this render might be a more realistic guess out of all that have appeared so far (definitely when it comes to the antenna breaks)
