The funny thing is the 5S and S5 have roughly the same battery life under typical usage conditions. I don't know anyone who carries a spare battery, you could just as easily carry one of those charging pack things too.

I think the new iPhone will have a notably bigger battery though, 2500mAh+. Then you have to consider the 5.5" supposed iPhone Air, could be 3200mAh or more.

Or you could just get on of these for £6.99. Provides 1 full charge (iphone 5) Very useful for weekends away etc.

Pretty classless ad from Samsung. Why don't they focus on their own products instead of other people's?

Cause it works, most normal people don't take it as an insult and just think, hey I do end up needing to charge my phone often and thats not great. Not too say the S5 is light years ahead or anything but its a problem with most modern smartphones.

Also every single Apple/iOS blog I frequent has a post dedicated too this, if it was a nice warm ad about how awesome the S5 is I doubt that would ever happen.

The S5 is like 20% better in most benchmarks with the screen on, and if the screen is off having almost double the battery life will go a long way to improving milage, I think anyone switching form the 5s too the S5 would notice a nice bump in day to day usage.

The better battery life is based on buying and carrying an extra battery or turning your smart phone into a dumb phone with some lame low power mode.

Samsungs business model is totally based around Apple like some psychotic ex bird - it's cringey but it makes them money I suppose.

£6.99? Cheapest I can find is £11 :(

That price was on off, through HUKD a while ago. Well worth £7

My iphone 5 lasts ages if you turn off mobile data. Ages in flight mode and even longer if its turned off!

The point is its not worthhaving really if everything you use is off

My bro has an S5.

The low power mode is pretty damn good!

The screen turns black and white and you only get to use a small selection of apps (which you can pick and choose). You can still use facebook, browse the net etc.

You wouldn't want to use this mode unless you absolutely needed to but if you were going to a festival or find yourself out and about with 5% signal strength it can be a lifesaver. It estimated 6 days usage at 60%, no idea how accurate that is though.

I like the look of the renders above (not the colour though :)). I'm quite tempted to go back to apple when my contract is up.

How do you guys deal with the apps though wouldn't want to have to pay another 50 to 60 euro buying the same apps with google play.

as long as this isnt 'massive' i am going back iphone for sure

i was loving my nexus 5 but it broke and i have now been without it for over a month... going round in circles with LG on the phone so sent mails that they dont reply too (other than the ''we will reply shortly''

total arghhhhhhh and i dont think i could trust someone like samsung to be any better than LG customer service wise. it would not suprise me if they use the same warranty repaid company

was considering alternatives to my current 5s but this looks like it might keep me in the apple fold for another generation

Most people will want thin / light given the larger screen.

Regardless a battery with ios is going to last longer than the same battery with android.

Yeah, no users want battery life, no one needs anything thinner then 7mm, its literally just a another dick waving move inline with LG going 1440p.

Also no one mentioned Android, I know you have a witch hunt for all things Android but please keep that too yourself. It the fact that the device will have a larger display, and most likely have more pixels and therefore a stronger backlight, this will all need more battery life, and currently all smartphones have subpar battery life, with the above leak it seems like at best we can expect battery life thats the same as the 5s. This makes even less sense when you see the phablet device is rumour'd too have a 2500mha battery, even thou it is bigger then the Note 3, all in the chase of being thinner.

Hopefully these are all wrong, but if it is right I think Apple is starting to show there losing touch with focusing on the experience, and just care about slides and pretty stats they can show off.

Windows et al are largely irrelevant hence mentioning android but I agree ios has better battery life than any other mobile OS.

My phone has 40-50% charge left at the end of the day and is charged every night so my phone lasting more than a day offers no real benefit - slimmer / lighter does. I think the average user would be the same. If you need more battery life there are options that don't mean an unnecessary chunky phone for the rest of us.
