Why does every new iphone thread always come to this ?

The android users come in and bitch and moan about how expensive it is and **** the apple users off for being sheep and paying the price, and all the apple users who perceive the extra to be worth it bite back to justify their choice.

Can we not just drop it ?

Indeed.

It's nothing to do with perception of apple users- anyone who honestly believes the gap between android and ios hasn't shrunk considerably is kidding themselves!

You're oversimplifying it, the 'gap' is different depending on the user. A year from now there will be people who could never leave iOS because they are Mac users and rely on Continuity. Whereas for other people they use iOS with Gmail and Google Drive and there's very little to prevent them from moving to an Android phone next.

For me the gap between the two will always be huge, because I use iTunes Match and iMessage a lot and this doesn't exist outside of iOS.

My order has been changed to 'preparing for dispatch' yay!

If you guys who's orders have been changed go on to the following link;

https://supportprofile.apple.com

You can find your serial number for your IP6, 6+. Mine hasn't updated to show it there yet, but plenty of people on Macrumours have been finding their iphone build dates.

As said previously I use iMessage from my iPad and I too have iTunes Match plus an iMac plus Apple TV. None of that prevents me from using and enjoying Android.

I'm still waiting for the poster who said he misses iOS to come back to me and explain why, but doubt I will get any sort of coherent reply.

Most of what I read is empty rhetoric. Bottom line with most of the upgrades, they are wants rather than needs, which is fine, I just wish people could me more honest.

Ios is simple, easy to use and dont need to fart around with it to get stuff working. Thats what I want in a phone and the reason a lot of none tech savvy people have them.

If i want to mess around trying to get things working I have a PC and recently Oculus rift to fiddle with. I really CBA doing this when needing to text someone, post on a forum, find the weather etc etc.
Eg double tap home, swipe left and click an open app. Swipe down and type to search for a keyword to search all texts, emails apps. Its just quick and simple

You aren't owed an explanation as to why someone wants to return to iOS, what is wrong with you

And of course using iTunes Match and iMessage stops someone from moving to an Android phone. I mean yeah you could get the Android phone and use iMessage and iTunes Match on the iPad at home but if you can't see how that isn't as functional as having it on the phone then I'm not sure where to begin.

Exactly, you could and I have and it presents no barrier. I think you yourself have commented it's about how you use things. As said earlier but you have conveniently skipped over it. I don't listen to music on my phone or play videos or message people. Why then would having all my Apple kit but using Android present me with a barrier?

A poster said he missed iOS, I asked a perfectly reasonable question - why?

It's you that's being defensive not I.

So it's almost like people have different needs. For me, the lack of iMessage or iTunes Match (and Continuity soon) on Android stops me from using that platform. For you, it doesn't. Why is there a problem here? Why is my reason less valid?

As far as I'm concerned you've just described Android or Windows Phone for that matter. Come on people let's have something a bit more original than the above. Whilst that claim may have had some merit a few years ago that really is no longer the case.

This is why so many people have a go at Apple users, they constantly trot out the same outdated mantra time after time.

OS wise there's barely a pin to put between all three.

Whilst you don't have to justify your purchases to anyone why not dispense with all the guff?

You're doing what you've done in all the other threads you've derailed in the past - setting a bar in your head which counts as a "valid reason" to favour an Apple offering over a competitor and dismissing everything which falls below this. It's very tiresome.

Personal preference is an entirely valid reason to favour one over the other. It's not your money, you shouldn't care.

You may claim that iMessage, iTunes Match, Continuity, iCloud Backup, TouchID don't count as valid reasons, but that's just you shifting the goalposts.

I can name many reasons why I'm jumping ship back to iPhone / IOS again...

Build quality
Design passion
iOS Simplicity
App quality
App uniformity
Reliability
Phone Hardware quality (yup even compared with Andoid HW it's top notch)
Camera quality (S4 is junk, megapixels are not the be all and end all)

It's a no brainer for me... I'm afraid all Android does these days is annoy me, and I can sum it up in one word 'CLUNKY' :)

you pay ya money take your choice, we are consumers... we all have our different needs. I don't need to faff with a dam phone, I just want it to work.
