Battery tech now means u can use it right away, it makes no difference at all, I would just set it all up then put it on charge.

On another note I'm returning my iPhone 6, lovely hardware but iOS on a phone is just not for me. The Email experience for example is bad, I can't find anything as well down as the Gmail app on Android. Simple things like knowing which one of my email's something was sent too are messing, I just have a long list of notifications for everything.

Were you using the default iOS mail app or gmail app? Either way, they both suck for Gmail.

Use Mailbox, so much better.

Started with mail, then gmail now using mailbox. Its nice but its still not as good, Apps in generally I have found looks nicer, there is a lot more animations e.g. Spotify has really nice animations with everything, but it seems a lot slower, there is a lot more loading and limitations due to the OS. The first time I was downloading my music I had to leave the app open as it would iOS would keep purging it.

I've just reached the conclusion that it might not be for me. It might just be me remember Android being better then it was, lets see if I come running back. But theres no 2 ways around it, nothing comes close hardware wise, everything from the build, TouchID, camera, and even battery life (considering its so tiny) is amazing.

Yep I'm in exactly the same position as you on this. I just bought another one to give Apple the BOD as my N5 is playing up again. I'm also not happy with the rumours of the N6 sized at six inches. I hope that the iOS 8 version of Gmail is like the Android one.

Memory effect might not be as bad but charging cycles will still kill your battery early. The less you charge it the longer it will remain healthy.

That's just basic physics.

I've been charging my iPhone 4 nightly for 4 years, it lasts a day's use...just but as long as it does, it's fine.

I keep a cable at work in case it doesn't, no big deal.

Tested out a 6+ and found it slightly uncomfortable to use. :(

Not to worry though, just brought home a 64GB 6 in White Silver. Perfect size. :D

Would love this, but can't justify the price.

Virgin want £69 upfront and £39pm for 24 months for 1000 mins a month and 250mb of data. That's just over a grand for the phone and contract.

Or because I'm on the big kahuna package, I can get sim only completely unlimited minutes for a fiver a month.

Sim only at £5 the get the handset from GiffGaff - will save you around £8 per month if you go for the 64gb

That's exactly how you're supposed to charge it and why you still have a usable device.

The life/duration of the battery will lower for users who introduce multiple charges in the same day.

A charging cycle doesn't equal "every time you plug it in"... charging from 50% to 100% is only half a charging cycle.. charging from 75% to 100% is a 1/4 of a cycle... you should read up on Li-ion batteries... they actually prefer to be topped up regularly...

A very quick google shows "Unlike NiCad batteries, lithium-ion batteries do not have a charge memory. That means deep-discharge cycles are not required. In fact, it's better for the battery to use partial-discharge cycles." http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/five-apps/five-tips-for-extending-lithium-ion-battery-life/

Just one of many examples on the web...

Tweetbot has apparently been updated for iPhone 6 but I can't see it in the App Store. I'm sick of using the ghastly Twitter app.

What's so different about it? I rarely use Gmail so haven't much experience with the app.

Switching accounts is faster (I have 3).
Separated notifications by email, instead of 1 endless list, this get me a lot xD
Better designed.
More details e.g. important labels, I really like the images on emails that default to a letter if the person has no image.

Its just a lot of small things really that add up. In generally I have found Apps where just a bit more functionally on Android, and styled better on iOS, I think once everyone really updates their apps to iOS8 the gap of functionality will be much narrower.

Has anyone placed an iPhone order this week? How long was your ETA?

For me, it showed an ETA of 2-4 weeks and now that I've placed the order the ETA is MID NOVEMBER!

Seems fair enough. I've always used Apple stuff so have never really experience anything else long enough to comment. I've used BlackBerry and Outlook when at working, but never thought "oh I wish my phone did this differently".

I'll install the Gmail App and have a look. :)

Mine updated this evening much better smaller text now :)

Chuffed now. :D

Ordered mine from O2 last Saturday and they said it'd be here this Friday, not been dispatched yet.
