iphone activation quick question

Do i have to activate my iphone using my version of itunes, or can it be any version that is connected to the internet? I just picked up a 3g and want to use it, but my computer with itunes is 1 hour down the road, so would prefer to not have to wait until tomorrow evening to use it!!

My mum already has an iphone and ipod connected with itunes, so i don't want to mess her account up either.

The dude in the Apple store activated my replacement 3GS after the first had an accident. Not sure if he had a "special" iTunes install. IMO you'd be best to wait til you get home. Apple stuff doesn't like sharing between machines and you need to let it fully charge. I know it is hard to resist the new gadget feeling

Main thing is make sure that you activate with your iTunes Account.

You can use your iTunes Account on any machine.

Just activate and don't start synching.

Any machine, any iTunes. You can just activate it and register it later.

It's not much use obviously til you've put your contacts on though.
