iPhone- Am I too late now?

right then everyone, I do have the iPod touch at the moment however I would pass it to my sister. So that is not a problem. However am i too late to buy it will the new one be out in 2008 in the uk therefore me looking 'out of fashion' kind of thing in even 3-6 months. Of course i will be unlocking and using an. O2 sim free deal so i wont be tied in.

So finally, am i too late will it go out of fashion kind of thing with a new iphone in the uk in 2008 soon. I dont buy more than one phone a year really as its just nit needed unless it breaks etc

Thanks please help me out. Much appreciated. Posted this on touch!

I'm in same situation as you, i want to buy an iphone also. Personally im gonna wait till after mac world (Jan 15th), and see if Mr Jobs announces anything regarding an updated iphone.

Yeah, I'd wait as there is more than likely going to be a version with 3G enabled in the near future. Any new revision of the phone, 3G enabled or not will also put the price of the old one down so I'd wait until at least after the Apple events.

So we will know on the 15th/16th for sure ? Thats the only day they announce right?

Nobody knows.

Nobody has access to Steve Job's machine ;)

There are a few Mac conference's a year, they give updates at each one, whether they say anything about the iPhone or not, nobody knows.

If he doesn't say anything at this one, I'd go for one as their won't be any updates any time soon after that, and I doubt the iPhone 2 will hit UK shelf's this year anyway :)

He'll probably speak of the next version, and announce a date but it won't be released.

agony.. If you want one. Get one, if you wait you'll just be gutted if something doesn't come out.

When are they going to release 1.1.3? If you wait till after macworld and they start shipping that, wont you be stuck for jailbreaking/o2 payNgo unlocking?

More than likely they will release it at MacWorld, 15th January.

And yes, he would be stuck with the contract until a hack/updated Jailbreak comes out.

Nah, they will still be 1.1.2 then just expect you to update to 1.1.3 in iTunes when you activate.

Should be good for a couple of weeks until iPhones become 1.1.3 out the box.

I think you should go and buy one tomorrow, there's no need to wait ;)

Nothing will be coming until late this year/early next year imo.

Very easy to unlock.

Just walk in to your nearest iPhone retailer tomorrow, come home, unlock, tell us how cool it is then keep thinking to yourself "Wow, this thing is cool"... :)

If a new iPhone comes out later this year and is appealing to you, sell the current one and upgrade, you wont be stuck to an 18 month contract :)

Placed my order online just now. Lets hope i don't have buyers remorse come next Tuesday, guess i can just return it to apple before 14 days are up anyway.

Yes, if you haven't opened it.

Otherwise you're looking at a restocking fee ~10% :o

Personally I think thats dodgy advice, the prospect of a new iphone before april/may time is very remote but it is possible. there are a few companies making lower power 3G chips now, which was one of the main sticking points.

I'd like an iphone but there's no way I'm buying it a week before macworld...
