Hello all,

My phone contract is up for renewal in March, and I'd really really like an iPhone to replace my K800i.

I'm just wondering if there has been any news on when it's due out in the UK at all?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Rumors are all saying it's coming October / November, and will be on the 02 network :)

Bloody hope not, O2 seriously suck for data

That said, there are just as many rumours saying it'll be on T-Mobile or Vodafone ;)
It was originally intended to be on Vodafone as they were a front runner, but recent rumors now say 02 won the contract.

It will be out sometime after better handsets will be available for free on a contract - specifically the SE K850i. I really doubt this country with the whole "free phone for signing a contract" culture we are in will be huge iPhone buyers, unless of course it's heavily discounted if you buy it on a contract.

all i know is that i wanted one... it came out in the US.. and now i dont want one due to reviews.
It had good reviews?

I know it's a bit buggy but they're likely to release an update before the european launch anyway :D

So you wont buy it if its on Vodafone (Most popular best reception network)
and
you wont buy one if its on O2 (another popular less reception but highly competitive prices)
Vodafone coverage sucks around these parts. O2 are more expensive and offer pathetic data allowance.

What exactly do you want? Orange?

Tescos mobile lol
Orange have the best coverage around here and are comparable to O2 on price but with far better data provisions.

T-Mobile would be my preference, better reception than Vodafone and not too far off on price.

See I would say the opposite I would choose Vodafone any day because of the coverage here. I just don't like T-Mobile and I am orange at the moment the day I switched from Vodafone was the day I lost the ability to contact any one i know without holding my phone in the air.

I hope Apple release the iphone in the UK soon, if not their ability to negotiate a good tariff will be weakened by the ongoing work to unlock the iphone to any carrier.

I like the look of the iphone and will seriously consider getting one when released, but NOT if the tariff is too high. I don't see why the likes of O2 would change their business model regarding billing for the iphone, if there are a dozen or so hacks out their that will allow users to swap carriers. From my understanding of the situation with AT&T, the exclusivity of the iphone was what prompted them to offer a better tariff.
