IPHONE CHARGING PORT RUMOR

We can't really say anything about the functionality of the new connector. I'm sure apple with justify it from about 6days 21 hours and 14 minutes?
Not that i'm counting :D

Of course they do, as if any of these changes were about anything other then getting more cash out of people. Still I'm sure were hear how amazing and exciting the new connector is in a few days:rolleyes:

Come now, lets engage the brain a little before we post eh. There is a slight possibility that the new dock might be for the sake of saving space. Apple want to either remove / downsize micro sims for the sake of the extra space it would give them so I think that it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that they would want to get rid of an old dock connection that is huge for the same reason.

When have apple ever eulogised over their dock connector. What is there to talk about. Its a necessity for any electrical device. If it does something else bar transfer data and provide power they might talk about it a bit.

Well I'll tell you this much. As the manager of a shop that sells iPod related stuff, I'm desperate for a new connector.

Why? No one buys speaker docks any more. Everyone's got one. They only buy a new one to upgrade or if theirs breaks. It's a saturated market.

New connector, new custom for me.

That's business. Apple will of course be seeing licensing money from every single one of them. I'm sure they have other reasons, space being primary (a lot of their proprietary connectors are purely for space, see Mini Displayport for example), but I'm sure they won't mind the extra money generated from sales of docks.

How on earth do you do that there's no hook on it to catch it should just pull straight out with any pressure?
Sorry for a late reply. As said, if you were to knock an inserted connector up or downwards, you can bend the connector and possibly damage the socket. I have seen it done on a bridge camera here at work for example.

Whereas the 30pin connector is a little bit more resistant to that due to its width. I have a ton of iPod/Phone 30pin cables at home because the buggers just don't break.

Whereas I have two broken iPod cable connectors. And one iPod with a broken connector that only works with one of the 3 working cables we have left. All 3 cables work with another iPod we have.

Maybe its just pot luck.

They didn't really keep the dock the same. This was uncharted territory back then. You buy a dock and there are lots of plastic adaptors for the old stuff.

MAYBE they will keep it consistent from now on. But backwards compatibility fears don't hold apple back. (which i like)

Can't stand Micro USB tbh. I have broken the connectors twice in the past by just brushing past them accidentally vs the rock solid 30pin effort. So I welcome a new dock connector.

Me too , it's because of poor phone design around the area rather than a poor port , flexible plastic around an inflexible soldered connection Would never work , I imagine neither of the ports I broke would have broke on my 'solid' iphone
