Strange, I can't find anything about any Vodafone EDGE coverage on Google, there are even some Blackberry users here asking about it:

My next curiousity is whether or not if I get an unlocked iphone and transfer my numbe to o2, would the "visual voicemail" work? I'm just curious... maybe it's -only- if you have an "iphone" simcard?

This is the next best offer I can see, I want to buy it but I need the phone tomorrow and seller isn't answering me whether or not he can ship it today!

You can unlock the iphone your self.
You just have to reflash the firmware to an older one then flash to a unlock one.
 
Yeah iPhone doesn't do 3G. I am just curious how this guy had EDGE on his vodafone sim card. Liar or roaming?

So any reccommendations as to the provider?

Nope visual voicemail won't work on your SIM if you've not been provisioned as an iPhone user. :)

Surely if they do 3G they offer EDGE, just not advertised?

If not, roaming, yeah.
 
Looks like 1.1.2 was hacked already and they're coming out with the relevant guides and mod versions soon.

Buy your iphone at the o2/apple store! :)

Only on the Touch, and that looks to be a symlink jailbreak, meaning it needs to be applied before upgrading. I think..

However, if you feel like downgrading your phone, waiting for them to release it, doing it and then updating to 1.12, go for it. :p
 
I just gotta figure out the truth about Apple hunting down people who buy it but don't "activate" with o2... :) Wouldn't want one of the iPhones to stop working all of a sudden now, would i?

How do you downgrade the firmware from 1.1.2?
 
iTunes 7.4.x downgrades, you download a file and there's some way to do it.

Anywho, launch was funny, bunch of people crowded near the apple store and all go a bit crazy 10 seconds before 6.02 and then they rush in.

I tried the internet and google maps via the o2 EDGE, it's been one of the most daunting experiences ever, so bloody slow... almost pointless to have an unlimited data bundle as you'll never fulfill it fast enough.

Regardless, it looked like they were asking for customers name's and adresses when you buy it...
 
I couldn't connect to any WiFi in store, it would either ask for a password or just fail at connecting.

I actually broke it a bit too, it froze and i left it alone because it would kept popping up and refreshing a list of the WiFi spots but i couldn't connect to any ofthem and I couldn't cancel either :)
 
So whats to stop you going in paying with cash and giving false details then leaving the shop and never returning thus gettin the handset for cheap?
