iPhone launch date: 29th June

Just seen the new ads on the Apple website.

Looks like they're only going to be showing the iPhone at WWDC, giving the chance to preorder, but not buy until at least the 29th.

I hope this takes some of the strain off the keynote and frees up more time for the Leopard / hardware side :)
 
Hopefully, I heard that they are only concentrating on the iPhone at WWDC to show its full spec etc and also Leopard and all its features. The backs up the rumours of new MBP tomorrow, which imo will happen.

WWDC is 'World Wide Developers Conference' If there is any thing iPhone related it would be an SDK. Apple has already announced the iPhone so there is no need to have another conference however if they do it will be on the 29th June the already announced launch date. However all we can know for sure is that Leopard will be demoed in full. Which is what WWDC is for.

Apparently Apple are going to unveil a way for developers to easily port 3rd party apps to the iPhone at WWDC.

Sorry.. my bad, I'd read what you said about the SDK but I was trying to explain it for those who didn't know what it meant :)

I hope the iPhone comes out august/september.. would really like to get one for my birthday!

Yeah makes sence, I wish there was going to be an ipod with a larger screen in august, the normal time for ipod releases as i dont like the 5/5.5g ipods i want a big screen like the iphone but not the phone or the poor amount of memory it will have.

If I remember correctly from the keynote he said some thing like world wide or euopean release early 2008 which probably means about a year from now, or you could look at it like the movies were supposed to be here by early 2007 and still havent come.
 
So long as the next iPod gets coverflow i'm happy.

Hell, i'd be happy with my 5G 80GB if it meant I could use coverflow :)

Yeah, I've seen the video of someone using coverflow on their 5G iPod, but never seen any instructions on how to do it myself.

I suspect it was a hoax tbh
 
I also remember seeing that but it was a while ago there seems to have been no news since that time, and the only thing available is lots of videos of it, must be a hoax, either loads of frames in the photogallery or a video playing whilst the person pretends to move their finger.

Its a shame really that iPod linux isnt user friendly, I mean i know its easy to use but it would be nice if it had a simplicity to it, it worked and had a gui to emulate the iPod interface. It just looks a bit to, linux-y and very far from finished to me.
 
I just don't know why Apple never did release coverflow for the iPod.

Maybe it's indeed a hardware issue, but for me it seems more like they wanted an excuse for people to buy the iPhone :(
