Hi guys,
So i get the issue that when i plug my iPhone 3G into the PC via USB it shows up in My Computer and Device Manager but if i load iTunes then iTunes freezes for a few minutes and then doesnt show the iPhone at all. iTunes becomes responsive if i unplug the iphone during the freeze but plugging it in again results in the same freeze.
The weirdest thing about it is the phone will occasionally show in iTunes, often when a new iOS update is available. This has been happening with two different iPhones, doesnt happen with iPod. It works fine in Windows XP.
I have tried multiple full uninstalls of everything apple related - itunes, quicktime, bonjour, update service and then manually deleting anything with those in the folder name followed by CCleaner registry cleanup, deleting iphone USB driver and reinstalling.
I am definitely using the 64 bit .exe, i have tried running as administrator and not, running in XP SP3 compatibility mode and not. I dont change what media is on the phone very often but i like to be able to do it (and backup regularly) when i want to not when my PC feels like it!
I REALLY DONT WANT to have to format windows although i think i'm out of options - unless anyone here can help??!?!!
