iPhone OS3 release date?

I think you have to use an iPhone to understand why it's such a good phone. The feature set is nothing special, but it's how the features are implemented. The UI is so good that it makes using other phones a bit painful by comparison. Was using my dad's Blackberry Bold the other day - on paper it's probably better than the iPhone, but it took me five times as long to find the time of my train as it would have on the iPhone because the browser interface is so inferior.

This! I hadn't really used an iPhone too much until last weekend where I popped into an apple store and had a real play with it. The interface is so smooth and fluid, everything just works (I'm starting to sound like an apple ad already :p). Can't wait to see what they will unveil in the beginning of June :D

I've got to say too, that I had a play with the ipod Touch a couple of months ago and the interface was very slick and fast and easy to use. But I couldn't get past the fact the interface wouldn't look out of place on a kids toy, yes it makes it easy to use but it's not imaginative at all, just rows and rows of boxes.

My issues with the iPhone (which lets face it is pretty identical to the iPod (have used the iphone briefly too)) are, in order of annoyance:

Features - probably partly fixed with the new software update, but hardware wise it still has a loooong way to go.
Interface - As I said, good interface, but boring design, change the interface to something more "interesting" and it would be a winner (I love the touch flo on my Touch HD because of the seperate pages you can instantly flick through, and variety, instead of just pages of squares :p)
Looks - Just don't like it, never had particularly liked Apples styling except for the Mac Pros and the now iPod nanos (bright colours).
Price - When they get it off the stupid exclusive contracts with such poor extras it would sell quite a bit more IMO.

Anyway, until those issues have been fixed, for me the iphone is still a long way down the list of desirable phones. :)

Just a few words...have a look at the HTC Magic if your looking at possibly an iphone killer device...it runs on android which is open source so you arent stuck with being closed in by Apple and their stupid way of thinking.

Awesome piece of kit and really looks nice and does the job superbly imo. And thats saying something from me...im a pure Blackberry man and for me to find another non BB device that makes me happy is really saying something.

Completely hooked on the Magic for the past day or 2...its very iphone-ish imo.

I have had my iphone for several months now and i can say that it is the best phone by far i hav ever had, yes i do miss the MMS but that is getting sorted in the update.

The only other thing really is the camera, it is fine for mms but i have my digi cam for anyhing more.

One thing that annoys me with my ipod touch is the lack of multitasking, such a pain to switch between apps by having to go back to the home screen, also the the lack of remembering passwords and things like auto complete when typing your email address out, but its a nice bit of kit, but it wouldnt make me swap my Diamond for an iphone.
