hi

im getting an iphone tomorrow from a colleague

the phone has been replaced by a 3g version so i am having the older one

i plan on using my pay and go o2 sim in it

can i just put it in the phone and be on my way - or do i need to get it unlocked?

ok - can anyone confirm this?

it is a PAYG sim so i thought it might not work if its locked to contract

[or am i being dumb and its locked to the o2 network?]

been doing a bit of research

it seems the 2g iphone will work with any PAYG sim as long as the phone has been activated

can anybody confirm this, or at least run me through what i would need to do when i get the phone to get it working with my current sim/number

good good!

got the phone today
inserted my sim, it says i need to go on itunes and activate it - once i do this it should work properly i guess?

thanks for the replies

Yeah you'll be good to go, it'll be worth getting the Unlimited Web bolt on for £7.50 a month though an iphone without the internet seems like such a waste ;)

its all going well so far - really impressed with it i must say

is the unlimited web bolt on worth getting on a 2g version?

i have been using it at home and its rapid - was concerned it would be fiddly but browsing seems easy so far

It's definitely worth getting the web bolt for the 3G version, I never had the 2G version so I can’t say but I’m sure it’s worth it just like the 3G for mail etc.

I have a unlimited web bolt on for my 2G and it is totally worth it for e-mail and facebook/twitter. Plus for browsing O2 usually charge £1 a day, so to avoid a big bill it might be an idea.

well i got some settings for my internet off o2

they emailed them to me very quickly

however
it did kill £5 of credit in 5 minutes

would the bolt on resolve this issue?
