Sorry, yet another "spec me" thread.

I'm due to change my phone and I've currently got the iPhone 3GS 16gb.

The only things I really do with it are read e-mails, browse the net, text messaging, audio calls, remote desktop and occasionally as a time waster (games/music).

I negotiated a great deal with the phone, and I'm on unlimited texts, 600mins of calls, unlimited data on an 18month contract for £27 pm.

I don't like the new iPhone (tbh, the only thing I really like about my current phone is how responsive the touch screen is) so I'd like something that does everything.

I'm thinking of maybe the HD Desire?

Ta everyone!

If you do a lot of reading/writing i'd get the HTC Desire HD for the huge screen. Excellent phone, there's plenty of reviews out there.

Sounds good, is there much difference between the Desire HD and the HD7, as they both come on the same tariffs?

The biggest difference is the Desire HD is Android and the HD7 in WM7. Sounds obvious, but Android has a much bigger market and following than WM7 will have for some time (if ever, arguably).

Have a Omnia 7 here and love WP7 I would check one out see what you think, the fastest and smoothest phone I have used apart from the Iphone 4, had lots of Androids including Desire HD and Galaxy S but prefer this phone I have now.

Jabbs - That's interesting, thanks!

I'm very tempted by the Win7 phone (HD7), but it's even bigger than an iPhone, and don't know if that's going to become a pain (possibly literally in the pocket!).

Decisions, decisions!

Suppose I could always order it and send it back within 7 days if I don't like it.... although I'm against using the DSR regs for that purpose...

If you are wanting to upgrade to an Android Phone wait about a month as the 3rd Gen phones are about to be released.

The first being the dual core LG Optimus 2X:

I've just moved from Android to the iphone and I find it so much better.

I was a real Android fan boi at one time but after using the iphone for work and now my personal phone I personally find it a helluva a lot better.

I had a Hero as a personal phone and a wildfire for work which was then upgraded to a desire, the iphone just does everything I want it to do with out all the messing about.

the Omnia 7 is a Samsung device and is regarded as the best of the W7 phone devices, has a lovely screen best on the market a SUPER AMOLED, really puts others to shame, so vibrant colours and blacks look fantastic.

My brother has a Desire Hd(Was mine) and we compared it playing the same video an pictures and it looks so washed out really big difference.

The omnia has a 4" screen which for me is the sweet spot not to big like HD7/HD as they share the same screen, the Omnia has a larger capacity battery than the HD7 and also has nand flash built in rather than a memory card in the HD7 and has been proven the omnia is the snappier phone.

There is one draw back the O7 only has 8gb storage where as the HD7 has 16 So something to think about, but in all I would take this over the current crop of android phones, works perfect out of the box, not having to mess about and is super smooth nothing on android comes close.

There are a lot of really fast android phones coming in the coming months so might be worth holding on maybe, or lookbat the iPhone 4 am seriously thinking of going back to one myself, but the I5 is due around June time. Be interesting to see what is changed on that
