Had my Iphone a couple of days and it has been going fine.

Was doing something on it today at lunchtime and it lost service and then error came up saying to connect to Itunes Restore needed.

Phone has not been jailbroken and is currently in its original state.

Has anybody else had this happen and if so is there a solution as I cant connect to Itunes as I am in work.

Thanks in advance...;)

Never heard of this before, what firmware are you running?

Maybe you are running a lower firmware than is now whats needs to access iTunes?

Just restore via iTunes, see if that resolves the problem.

This recently happened to me, or at least a similar issue. My phone gave a no service message, then when I tried turning Airplane mode on and off to restore service, I got the connect to iTunes error.

Long and short of it, despite several restores via iTunes, the phone was borked. I took it to my local Apple store who replaced it on the spot. Something to do with a faulty receiving chip I think.

Unfortunately don't have any other phone I can try it in.

Other phones I have are on different networks.

Spoke to somebody at o2 and they came out with a priceless reason why it could be happening, static on the sim card.

As an electronics engineer I found this reasonably amusing.:D

Those muppets at O2 have not got a clue!! Don't go anywhere near them if you have an Apple Store nearby. They wanted to send mine off and have me wait up to 10 (yes TEN) working days for my phone.

Needless to say I booked a Genius Bar appointment and had it replaced on the spot. Proper service, thumbs up to Apple, fingers up to O2 :p

Does it matter if I bought the phone from an o2 shop?

If not then i'll probably take it back to an Apple shop as suggested.

Tried the SIM in another phone and it works fine so its definitely a problem with the phone.

No it doesn't matter where you got it. I got mine from an O2 shop too. It's an Apple product and so long as it's under warranty (which a 3G has to be) then they have no problem at all sorting it for you. Great service to be honest.

O2 Shop wouldn't replace the phone, said it was a SIM problem even thought the SIM worked fine in another phone.

So they wouldn't replace the phone?

Cancelled the contract there and then but got a new phone from a different O2 shop today.

This one seems to get a far better signal than the other one.

All in all I have to say it was a bit poor on O2's part regarding a replacement, but its all sorted now anyway.:D

TBH I wouldn't even consider going back to the O2 shop with my iphone. Those idiots have no idea what they are talking about. Apple would've replaced it on the spot. But at least you got sorted.
