iPhone SDK roadmap event today

I really dont understand why they have to incur extra charges just for the touch users, surely this will put people off buying one!

TBH I think i will end up buying the update when it is released, but if it is anything above £15 i'll be really quite annoyed.

Awesome. Was hoping for it sooner really though.
Pretty random that I have been saying "I hope they release a Cisco VPN client" since i got it and now look.

The enterprise stuff is going to really open this up to Business.
There so will be a hardware upgrade at the same time though. Firmware 2.0 an iPhone 2.0.
If it has 32gig and a 3g chip I will be selling mine ;)

What is your source on that? I think it is rubbish.

Nice for you, it's perfectly true...

For a device not on a subscription, there's an accounting requirement related to revenue recognition that basically requires them to charge for significant feature enhancements. Same reason they used to charge for the 802.11n enabler.

But while it's true is doesn't explain why they charged next to nothing ($2) for the 802.11n enabled and $20 for the itouch upgrade.

They do have to charge something though, there's no way round that...

It sounds backwards but there are actually fairly good reasons they do it.

Has anyone been able to download the SDK yet, the servers are still hammered and can't handle the traffic. Still can't get through..
