iPhone SE 2020

Lots of people on here asking for FaceID, but as an 11 Pro user, I'm tempted to go for this SE 2nd Gen just for the fact it brings back TouchID. FaceID is awful IMO.

I don't mind either TBH.

In my experience TouchID was much faster and accurate.

First world problems, don't get me wrong, but with TouchID I could pick up phone out of my pocket/off my desk or whatever, and it be unlocked before I'm even looking at the screen.

It's better when wearing a mask too. I've had to resort to my passcode every time I leave the house the last few weeks as I now wear a mask in public.

And the flip-side of that will be gloves in the winter months rendering TouchID useless.

Decent if the iPhone 12 features both.

I have the XR now, I’ll be giving up FaceID but do miss the smaller phones.

I have freakishly big hands but still prefer a smaller phone.

Why on earth do people want to downgrade from xr or Xs to this ??? A12 chips are hardly slow

I know a lot of people find the XS and XR models too large to hold comfortably and would prefer a smaller handset.

One thing I do like about this which it has over Android phones is the longevity and OS updates. With an A13 chip you know it'll likely have a good 4 years worth of support.

Most similarly priced Android handsets are lucky if they get half that. It's perhaps the main reason I refuse to spend more than ~£400 on an Android phone.

The only downside I see with it is that the design of the phone does look a bit dated with those pronounced bezels. I don't see many people being bothered by that though. At £400 these things will fly of the shelves.

Its one of the reasons why I’m not interested in upgrading above the 8. So glad the SE doesn’t have FaceID.

One of the biggest step backs for Apple as far as I'm concerned. One thing I'm jealous of Android users is the new finger print ID built into the screen, fantastic stuff.

How expensive is it to add 5G capability?

At the currently deployed frequencies (those used previously for 2G, 3G and 4G services), it depends on how much the changes to the protocol stack take to develop along with licensing costs.

Developing an entire new RF architecture to support the millimetre wave bands will cost hundreds of millions of dollars. I’m not even sure that the SAR testing methodology and phantom heads exist for 20GHz plus bands.

You prefer physically typing in a code rather than an almost instant finger print?

Tell me, in what other aspects of your life do you suffer needlessly? :p
I’m in no urgent rush where shaving off a few seconds bothers me that much ;)

Could you not unlock your phone by accident with FaceID. I’m pretty sure I read something about that admittedly a while ago now.

Just ordered one for my wife to replace her 6s — seems like a decent upgrade for the price and will hopefully last her a long time.

she’s very excited about Portrait Mode and a battery that lasts more than five minutes. :)
