I know when sync-ing, itunes backs up all those sms conversations.
I was wondering if there was any way of editing which sms conversations are on the phone, and deleting most of the crap in the middle.
Or being able to do so off the iphone on the backup and then forcing the iphone to loose them.

erm, now i'm going to sound stupid. how do you delete individual bits of a "conversation" rather than the entire conversation, which is the only thing i know how to do using the clear conversation function?

It is possible if you jailbreak your iPhone. When I had the 1.1.4 firmware, there was an application in Installer which allowed you to delete individual SMSs along with other various features. I don't think it has been ported to the 2.0 firmware yet unless anyone can confirm? :)

In the backup folder im sure I found the text file and I *think* they were in plain text with some coding around it...

Have a look there? MobileSync folder on a mac.
