Has the Geohot method been proved to be stable, im unsure about upgrading as I dont want to brick/mess up the phone.

OH YEAH!! Check top-left.

Absolute doddle. About 5 mins from start to finish.

Theres always a risk, it depends on how badly you want the unlock?

Plenty of people seem to have done it ok, and the iclarified installer version looks easy.

Well I took the plunge and went ahead with it using the iClarified steps. During the process the screen froze which scared me a bit, but then the iPhone rebooted and everything was fine. So I stuck my Virgin SIM in there and it works!

Just to reconfirm mine is a UK iPhone. When purchased it had 1.1.2 and I jailbreaked it to 1.1.2.

Just wondering if a 1.1.2 OTB was iTunes updated to 1.1.3, then downgraded to 1.1.1, jailbroken + oktoprep, then 1.1.2, then soft-updated to 1.1.3 you would have all features working such as google maps locate me?

followed the iclarified method but not working at the moment, no signal at the moment. But the carrier icon has appeared in settings, giving me errors when I go into it though.

I used this method to jailbreak my 1.1.3

Worked 1st time, had a slight glitch when the carrier went down but after syncing to itunes and 2 reboots (forced) it seems to have settled down. Now enjoying 1.1.3 jailbreaked :D

Not bothering with the unlock for now as im happy with my current O2 contract

Please kill the link if it breaks any rules......

Sorry for being AWOL.

I personally followed the guide at: http://iphone.unlock.no/OTB112unlock.htm

It combines all the previous downgrade nonsense, and makes things easy to understand.

I recommend using iTunes 7.5 as 7.6 was giving me crap.. otherwise it works a charm :)

I have a 8GB 1.1.3 iPhone on Orange, and a 16GB iPhone jailbroken on a legit 02 tariff.

Argh still can't get signal, can't remember which O2 sim is the PAYG one. Do pre-paid sims work straight after you buy them? Sorry for the noobish questions.

I followed that guide too, will try again tomorrow I would think. Got the right SIM now too as it shows the phone number in settings -> phone

edit: just tried calling my iphone and it goes to the answer phone hmmm

That's one way don't trust me on that, read Justin's sticky had some 1.1.3 stuff on it.

Install signal on your iphone and run it Will from Repo http://www.sendowski.de/iphone

UPDATE: Fully updated to 1.1.3 using the SSH method as installer doesn't like my WiFi.

Tested with 02, Orange and T-Mobile SIM :D
