Not really, and who cares if they do - I'm secure enough with my own mobile phone decision to not need to worry about what a few uneducated people think. Plus, surely a thread about an O2 tariff should be in the mobile phone section rather than the Mac Hardware section.

Meh, it's an Apple product. Mac Hardware :p

Impressive, will downgrade to the £35 tariff and add the unlimited text bolt-on I think :)

Thanks O2 :D

At least this is one less point for the haters to whinge about, looking around at other networks this tariff is actually very very good, especially considering you get unlimited data and The Cloud WiFi. For example for £35/month on Vodafone 18 month contracts you get 500 mins and 500 texts, no data (120mb "unlimited" data is £7.50), no Cloud wifi etc.

You call a contract + phone totalling almost £1000 budget?

Well, budget being a relative term. I know plenty of people at school/college with part time jobs that think its the norm spending £35pm on their phone, but for that they were getting a lot more texts than the equivalent price iPhone contract.

With these changes, the iPhone is more in line with other phones with contracts in that price range. True, the other contracts supply the handset free but if you are buying an iPod anyway its not that much more expensive anymore.

I rang up about that. Basically the deal is:

If you last upgraded your phone before September 18th 2007 (which you did I'm guessing if you're due to expire in Xmas 2008), then you can sign up for a new iPhone contract and your existing contract will be scrapped without any fees.

So my mum (last upgraded May 2007) can upgrade now to a iPhone £35 month contract (she's currently on £35 p/m with o2 xda)

Whats everyone talking about unlimted texts as a bolt on? This wasn't mentioned in the 1st thread/reply?

So I am on the 45 quid tarrif. I get 600mins to 1200 mins now and the £55 option is basically scrapped and is now my tarrif?
(edit. There is now a £75 option that gives 3000 mins.)

Thanks, man what a sweet deal

I suspect they need to move a few more units, mabye all this jailbreaking might have caused a few hic-ups in the contract department :P

Not sure really, jailbreaking only allows you to use O2 sims anyway and if you're using a 'normal' O2 sim then Apple aren't taking their cut. I suspect the decision has been made over the other side of the Atlantic if anything (but I seriously have no idea).

I wanna know if we can downgrade from £45 to £35 anyone know, i sent an email and they said the new iPhone bolt on for unlimited texts wont be out until the 1st feb so to contact them then, might as well be on £35 plus have the unlimited texts

Yes you can, check the macrumors iPhone thread as people are talking about it there, if you look at about my bill on O2 website it's got it on there also.
