Hi all don't want to start a war as to which is best. I have always been an apple fan and pretty much had every iPhone since I can remember.
Now I've just bought a Samsung tv and some apps for the tv are not here yet. IE bt sport etc, but I have access to BT Sports app on my phone. Now I can't just mirror from my iPhone to the tv but from what I've read it seems I may be able to do this if I had a Samsung phone.
Now first question, Is this possible?
Question 2. How easy is it to swap from an iPhone to a Samsung?
Question 3. Is it worth it just for wanting to mirror whats on my screen at the time.

Thanks.

I don't like apple products at all. But if you need a android phone, would any other android phone work with your TV?
Also could you not use a android tablet, not a phone?

Personally I found Samsung phones a bit bloaty (I use a Moto G) But you could always install custom de-bloated and de-rooted firmware, which I would recommend. As ads on android phones are very annoying.

From what I heard from my relatives, the jump from iOS to TouchWiz was big and Samsung just had too much "features". They moved back to iOS when they could upgrade. A work colleague on the other had found the OnePlus 3's Oxygen OS to be nice and simple enough to use and loves it.

How about a much cheaper option: Chromecast: https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/chromecast/tv/chromecast/

Or if you have a 4K TV with HDMI 2.0: https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/chromecast/tv/ultra/

You can cast from the BT Sport app to the Chromecast which plugs into a HDMI port, and quite a lot of apps support it. Even BT's guide on Chromecast is casting from an iPhone: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/...stream-through-chromecast-on-the-bt-sport-app

It depends on how heavily invested you are in the iTunes store. If you have spent a lot on their IOS apps, then they will be wasted as you would have to start over with Android and fork out more £££ to the Play store.

Other than that, the IOS vs Android debate is very subjective. Some preferences will be usability and other preferences will be cosmetic.

It's actually app dependant if you can mirror - you'd need to get confirmation from someone with the setup you seek but the vast majority of apps that download encrypted content (sky, netflix etc..) do not allow this. I'd go the chromecast route Orc suggests, it's cross OS and easy to do (and support is MUCH better). FWIW it's easy to switch between iOS and Android, but it's not worth switching just for this feature as chromecasts exist. If there was other reasons then sure.

Now that is probably what I'm looking for, I shall def be looking into this. Thank you very much...

My wife made the jump from iPhone 6 to s7 and although it took a few weeks she said she wouldn't go back now as the headphone jack was an essential for her.

She had a few bits on iTunes but still has her iPad for that.

Most of the other bits are now just normal for her, there is a fair bit of bloat on Samsung but most of it is easily removed bar some Samsung 'essentials'

The TV should function OK and a lot of apps should pick it up as a smart TV but unless there is a remote control app I don't think a Samsung phone will do any different to any other android phone so look around and see what your like... Coming from iPhone I do think the physical button on Samsung's does make it feel more natural for them.
