iPhone update problem

Hi all,

going on from my other thread in the hardware, I have my phone working as normal again, now when I plugged it in iTunes popped up and asked if I wanted to restore using my previous backup - I said great. I knew it was about 3 days old, so I wouldn't have lost many message etc.

I restored it, and it's done it as if I just got the phone, so I've lost a lot of contacts and hundreds of messages.

Any ideas what it could be? it's rather annoying.

I've restored using that before and got all my old messages and contacts back!

Restore ALWAYS wipes the phone. When you synced it back up afterwards, it will have asked if you wanted to put all your backed up stuff on the iPhone, or set it up as a new one.
