I have read just after the release of this new update to 3.1.3 that it has caused problems for some people regarding reduced battery life. Cannot remember the full info at present. Whenever I sync my phone to my PC it asks if I would like to install the update, due to what I've read I have been refusing it each time.

Can anyone shed some light on the battery life stories, were they just hoaxs or genuine problems. If it has caused problems are they now resolved.

I found the opposite, my battery life appears to have increased since the 3.1.3 update.

No issues with battery life since the update here,
I have to charge my iphone everyday anyways and havent noticed it being any better or worse post 3.1.3 installation.

yup ,, we used it to go 3hrs journey i used mine charged fully from car on way out his on charge in car on way back using tomtom .. on another occasion we left it running in night with music switched itself of mine still played thru....

2 different apps and both his played less used more battery.

actually noticed it in web browsing as well as he normally uses 3g out and about at college andcame home twice thinking its worse...

My 3G seems a lot better on battery than my mrs' 3GS.

Both configured in the same way (as she knows naff all!) ;)

Pretty much every update you come across people saying that the update kills battery life etc. Truth is it's usually impossible to tell (unless the difference is blatant - i.e. several hours). There are too many variables - from screen brightness to notifications to where you put the phone when you're not using it.

agree but like most people hear ive based my answer on usual useage for myself and my son, not just picked one up of the shelf and as we usually do similar day to day routines plus the small testing in a flat simple ie drive there/back and compare its pretty reliable base to work from

Mine has increased. Normally get about 2 and a half days with 4-5 hours usage, whereas I'm currently at 3 days 20 hours with 4 hours usage and 20% still to go.

One of the fixes in 3.1.3 was to help battery life which is why I was quite surprised when I first opened this thread.

Mine seemed a bit poor yesterday on my 3G, and yesterday was my first proper day of extensive usage (using WiFi, 3G and an hour long evening call). That had it down to 30% or so by day's end.
