IPhone XR Camera

Does anyone have an XR and think the camera is appalling? Especially the front one. I got my wife one about 2 months ago and she's wanting to change already just wandered if there was any settings to tweak or something that needs to be on to help it out a bit.

I had an XS which I think had the same main front camera. Daylight photos were perfectly decent. Night time shots not so good but it doesn't have a night time mode. Against what are you comparing the XR to conclude it's appalling?
