Iphone5 unlock problem

Hi there,

I got my friend an Iphone 5 from a UK 3 mobile store locked to 3 mobile network on an open rolling contract. she has now traveled to her home country and needs the phone unlocking. I asked 3 and they said they cannot do it as she is overseas...

is it possible to have the phone unlocked in any other way?

I will rephrase my question,

Is it possible to unlock an iphone5 without the carrier doing it remotely, i.e. by a man on the market or a piece of software we can download.

Its cheaper and easier to get it done by 3 in the UK; can she mail the phone back here?

Wonder why it has to be in the UK? Don't 3 just tell Apple to unlock it and then you plug it into iTunes and away you go?

They said it needs to receive a text? I will call again and see if I can speak to someone who knows that they are talking about.
