iPod Classic = Poor bass, what can I do?

As said LOD.
Have you got an ipod and experiencing crap sound quality?

I've got Ipod Touch 32gb 1st gen and using it with CX300 when i do ironing :D and using HD 555 any other time.

The sound quality is acceptable, not as good as my sound system or my PC with Xonar D2.

I'm looking at Ipod Dock as thinking about connecting dock to Xonar D2 and out to speakers/headphone (is it possible?) and also another dock for my dedicated sound system in the living room. Just not sure which dock to get without losing sound quality.

Also looking at cmoy or iBasso D2 to connect from Xonar D2 --> cmoy/iBasso D2 --> HD555

Sony Walkmans are by far the best sound quality out there and they have very good headphones suplied.

As for iPods - Look fab, but sound like no brand mp3 players from cheap PC shops.

Have to agree with you, i came from a 5gen 30gb ipod video and that sounded MUCH better than my itouch.

There are quite a few people on the head fi forum that think the itouch sounds great... I don't understand it at all.

The headphone jack is crap but the dock is great. Im sure thats correct

Did simply using the dock make a big difference then? I just think my itouch sounds so dull and lifeless, the bass is pretty pants too. Especially when listening to very bass heavy music, which is normally the case :)

Im not sure yet, Im still waiting for my Amp to be delivered. And I also need to buy an LOD before I can use the amp.
I Cant find a decent LOD in the UK. Please email me if anyone knows where I can get one from. Much appreciated!

Hi,

I was then forced to replace the ipod due to the wife leaving me and taking the ipod  So then I bought a second hand 8gb sony nw-a808 for £45 and with the SONY HEADPHONES it was supplied with it

Again to me this suggests the headphones were the problem here, I own the sony ex85 and think they pale in comparison to even cheapo mylarone x3i.

I see it time and time again where someone's swapped from ipod to the sony with the sony mdr ex85 and have made the presumption that it's the player that is much better when in fact it's just the headphones.

Not disputing that the sony is better but I think in most cases people seem to go from senn cx300's to the sony earbuds and been blown away.

Pretty confident the sony player doesn't sound all that on the senn cx300 either.

I bet if you tried the sony headphones on the ipod it would sound much better.

better but not much. the ipods are not good at all for driving earphones. with the same earphones the sonys are (it seems) almost impossible to beat at any price. unless you have a taste for importing very expensive kenwood players.

makes me laugh - an iPod Touch is a music and media device - so if it sounds rubbish and you have to spend even more money to get it to sound decent - does it not miss the point of the "device" completely in the first place?

Its like buying a top-price sports car with a 1.0 diesel engine in it - whats the point - looks good but doesnt have any ooomph?

Waste of money IMHO - there are better devices for a lot less £££ - Cowon - Sony etc

khushy
