hi
does anyone know if any shops offer an extended warranty on an ipod classic where its instant replacement not the one that currys have where they send it off to be repaired?

You might want to take out that competitor mate. I work for their direct rivals and our warranty is with Aeon which require us to get a thing called an MSQ number from the manufacturer before giving you the money back to get a new one. Thats also known as being sent off first lol.

No way around it sadly but 99% of the time doesnt take too long as long as you dont come in on a friday (due to your ipod being posted the following TUESDAY if you do that)

ive already got one with the store but was looking at buying another one and didnt want to go there because the last one i got sent back the serial number was different on the back to what comes up on the menus so i ended up getting less for it when i sold it due to that

Arg i had an extended warranty on my iPod mini. When I sent it away for repair it got lost in the post. It took me 6 weeks to get the matter resovled, and i was given a refurb 20 gig 4th gen iPod as it's replacement, which lived for aabout 15 months before the hard drive failed.

I went out and bought an 80 gig Classic last month, didn't bother extending the warranty this time as I think at £160 a pop something better will be out (and cheaper) by the time I replace it.

I bought an Ipod in November 2009 at Currys in Crayford and was sold a 3 year instant replacement extended warranty. The Ipod stopped working in July 2010 so I took it to the store and it was instantly exchanged. In March 2011 the Ipod stopped working again and when I took it back to the store I was told that they had changed the company policy and any item over £120 had to be repaired rather than replaced. I explained to them that by law they cannot amend my policy without my consent and as I purchased the policy on the basis of an instant replacement that is how the policy will remain. The sales assistant called the manager who said he will agree to change the Ipod on the condition that I cancel my existing policy and they issue me with a new policy for the remainder of term on the new repair rather than replace basis. Has anyone been given the same speech by Currys?

It's laughable that your Ipod stopped working within 12 months on 2 occasions. Personally I'd make the conclusion that another product is probably a good idea.
