Ipod FM adapter

Hi

Just bought my Ipod video and am wondering what is a decent FM adapter to use in the car.

Any recomendations ?

Digiana Audiax II Wireless FM Transmitter

Got 2 of these (one for my car & one for wife), I use it daily with my SPV500 phone. Not had any problems so far... except when going along one particular road and a radio station can be heard competing with my signal... not near any transmitters as far I know but it clears after a mile :-(

It sounds like a iTrip to me. iTrip are illegal in the UK as you need a licence to broadcast over common radio waves (but not for walkie-talkies etc.)

yeah your best bet is a Griffin iTrip - but as Scythe said they are illegal... since for example Radio1 has strictly exclusive rights to 97.9MHz, if you are using a device that can disrupt their signal you are breaking the law, HOWEVER the range of these things is minute so in reality it really aint a problem, just a legal technicality

saying all that, if you're a man who likes his sound quality (which can be lacking with an iTrip style device), connect the iPod directly to the car stereo using either the line in or dedicated iPod connector depending on the stereo

Isn't it 98.8?

And yeh aux or ipod connecter is > * in terms of sound quality.

Depending what part of the UK you're in Radio1 can be on anything between 97.9 to 99.3 iirc...

But ofcom on the naughtyness of FM transmitters have said...

Still, the regulator Ofcom say that using the device can be considered as running a pirated radio station hence is punishable by law. As per the spokesperson, the maximum penalty for using an iTrip could be two years in prison or a large fine. However, this is the worst possible scenario.

In order to use one legally - you will need a license to broadcast on the FM frequency in your own little reserved frequency *not cheap* and then you will need a license from the music industry to broadcast music. *still not cheap* as there is a chance others will be able to tune into it rather than for your enjoyment only.

I believe a few companies have been caught for using CD's as hold music as it's unlicensed broadcasting...

Plus the sound quality from an itrip isn't that great.
