iPod Mini problems :(

Ok guys,

I've got a 4GB iPod Mini and i'm having major problems with it. The actual iPod is operating fine, it'll play the music on the device etc. The problem comes when i try to connect the device to my PC to update it. Its not recognised at all. Nothing comes up

Its not recognised in Explorer as a HDD, nor in iTunes!

I've tried 4 of the 5 R's, i would 'update' the ipod but it doesnt appear anywher eon my pc, therefore i cant update it.

any ideas guys? I've tried restarting the ipod, my pc and installing itunes again.

The strange thing is, when i plug it in with the USB cable, no charging symbol apears, however, when i unplug the cable, the backlight of the device comes on, so its obvious that it knows its been plugged in?!

anyone got any ideas?

thansk, i'm kinda desperate, i go away on monday for 3 weeks and wanna update ASAP!

Ahh Hi Greg, I talked to you on MSN yesterday. If the 4 R's don't work, then it usually points to a broken iPod. Perhaps the wires or something that the computer uses for data transfer are broken, but still try another pc. :)
 
i must have a donald ducked iPod then :(

I've jsut tried it on my newly rebuilt laptop, and no joy! :( exactly the same happens.

I'll have to contact Apple :(
