IPOD TOUCH 2ND GEN AND NOT 3RD ????

I was just looking on apple uk site and put in my serial number of my touch that I got today and it says it is a second generation ??
How the hell is that when in their catalogue ipod touch 8gb 3G??

anyone shed some light on this please :confused:

There is no iPod Touch 3rd Gen in 8GB. The 8GB iPod Touch currently sold by Apple is the 2nd Gen model.

Only the 32GB and 64GB are 3rd Gen -- the main difference being that they're slightly faster than the previous generation.

I must have some rights on this...maybe the should upgrade for free to the 32gg or at least give me some money back ??

I dont like being sold something that isnt what they say it is. Even if the difference isnt that much it is wrong :mad:

they shouldnt sell a product they dont understand!!

The UK site doesn't state the 8GB to be 3rd Generation.

I didnt get it from apple I got it from a well know high street shop and the catolouge they have says 8gb 3G???

I had this exact same problem with the same store. Ended up selling it on after my rage subsided.

Im sure at first they said there was a 3rd gen 8gb, BUT everyone knew it was 2g hardware so maybe they just called it that?

On the Apple site it isnt listed as 3G...it just ****es me off
they sold me a 3G or at least that is what they told me it was, So I think they should give me a 3G. They said it the 8Gb was 3G...if they had listed correctly I would have purchased the 32gb that was a 3G..so I think out of good will they should replace it with a 32gb ??

Funny thing is the one I got today was a replacment for one I got last weeek that was runing so slow on OS4 it was unusable so I went in and got a replacment no trouble at all...When I got home I didnt update this one to OS4 and it runs fine but it isnt a 3G and I think if I update it it will run like the other one

Dont think Apple have ever advertised it as 3G - your sales contract is with the retailer so if you think youve been mis-sold you need to contact them. Hopefully youll have some evidence...

hopefully i'm not the person who sold it to you, someone asked this same question to me in store and i asked all my colleagues and manager and they all seemed to think the 8gb touch we sold was a 3rd gen ??? so i said to the customer we think it is if not he could return it...

Was it in the catalogue itself that stated is was a 3rd gen touch? The site doesn't mention it.

as I didnt ask if it was a 3g as the catologue said it was.

It seems to work fine no problems on 3.1.3 but I think if i update to os4 it will run like a dog again.

50% back would be nice or free upgrade.. if I cant get that then a full refund.

It's third generation in that it got a new product code and it came preloaded with OS3, but it is, hardware wise, the same product as before.
