Hey guys,

Got a car with only cassette/radio.

Trying to work out the best way to listen to the iPod in the car, and charge at the same time.

It's either the FM transmitter route or the cassette adaptor route (as shown below)*

I'm led to believe that the cassette route would be better, do you agree, or can anyone spec me an iPod FM Transmitter/Charger that works well (and is compatible with the Touch 2G. I've been told older docks are incompatible and do not charge the iPod).

*cassette adaptor route
Car Dock (Charger) -> Line In cable -> Female-female Line In adaptor -> Cassette adaptor

TIA :)

The cassette way is probably the cheaper option and is what I initially used, but I then thought I'd try an iTrip and it worked great. Mine didn't charge the iPod, just transmitted to the radio. I think the main thing you need to consider is cost, if you can justify spending more then go for it :)
You could always just get a new head unit for the car with direct iPod connectivity too though :p

Cheers Maccy.

I'm basically looking for the best sound within reason.
Is cassette adaptor better than these FM transmitters?
I had a cheap FM transmiter before which was rubbish, is the more expensive iTrip range that much better?

Thanks

The cassette adaptors are good but they can't take too much volume, only go so far.
The iTrips are ok, but you lose some sound quality.
