I read this on the net...

'Go with 16gb, the 3rd gen is only worth wile if you want 16 gb or higher otherwise they have the same old processor and graphics. The new ones have killer graphics and a much better processor; go with 16gb third gen if you can. Wonder why apple didn't put the better processor and gpu on the 3rd gen 8gb model. 16 2gen is your best bet here.'

I was planning on getting an 8gb 3rd gen for the updates processor and more ram. I will be using it mainly for a few tv shows and apps. I have a classic for my music

On here it looks like the updated 3rd gen ipod touch only applys to 32gb and 64gb models. Or is this out of date? There's way too much info on the net for this type of thing

3rd Gen wise only the 32gb and 64gb models counts as they have the same innards as the iphone 3gs. the 8gb 3rd gen is the same as the 8gb 2nd gen. in regards to the 16gb versions they'll be 2nd gens.

I wouldn't worry about speed, my 16gb 1st gen is fine with anything on the app store (including some pretty intensive 3d games, call of duty etc).

However, are you sure 8gb is enough space for tv shows/movies? I reckon you'll fill it up pretty quickly.

Thanks, so its either a 32gb 3rd gen for around £200 notes or a 2nd gen 8gb for around £100. It looks like they hold their value quite well, the rainforrest store has them for £140 new. Can they be had any cheaper than this for a new 8gb 3rd gen? (I know you cant name competitors, so cockney rhyming slang will do!)

Stupot - I have an 80gb classic, so will just be for apps and a few tvshows for when im on trains and busses. Either than or I could sell my trusty 80gb classic and buy a 64gb touch. Id be scared of breaking the screen though
