I recently tried to update the software on my ipod touch but while it was doing that an error popped up saying it failed and now my ipod will not restore, itunes is up to date ive restarted the computer but no joy so now i dont know what to do, this is the error message i get when trying to restore my ipod:

How far through the restore does it get? Does the bar move along on the iPod at all or does it error when the progress bar on the iPod appears? What is the current status of the iPod, does it now just show the connect to iTunes screen?

Try it in DFU mode. Plug your iPod Touch in, hold home and on/off for exactly 10 seconds (so it restarts), and let go of on/off but continue to hold home. If you've done it correctly, your iPod Touch will be appear in iTunes AND the display will be off. If there's anything on the iPod Touch display when it appears you've done it incorrectly.

Give that a go.

I tried that and the screen was black on the ipod but was still listed in itunes as ipod, but the restore thing still didnt work and i got the same error message, do u think it might be worth going to the apple store would they do anything to help? Ive only had the ipod for 7 months so maybe its still under warranty?
