Hey guys,

I’ve had my iPod video a couple of days now and I’m liking it a lot :D

I’ve been converting a few videos for it and it’s been fine? Tonight I tried putting my latest ones on (Converted in ImToo (iPod .mpg4)) and I get the following error?

Is that bad, or am I doing something wrong? They worked okay before

The only thing that that’s changed is iTunes (Latest version) and the iPod updater – I’ve gone from 1.0 to 1.1? Could that be the problem…

Cheers,

SW.

This seems to happen now and again, I've read that it's down to settings in the conversion app but when it happened to me I'd converted a few all with the same settings and only a couple of them produced that error. It happened to me with a couple of videos I converted using videora so I used 3GP for them instead and those ones were OK when transferred over to the iPod.

Regarding version 1.1, if you have a 60GB iPod video you'll notice problems with large video files, they start off OK then after a few minutes continue with no sound, this problem does not seem to affect the 30GB model for some reason. I upgraded to 1.1 but downgraded to 1.0 again the next night due to this problem and videos played back fine again. There were a number of threads on other forums about this issue.

Thanks for the reply mate - I'm back on the 1.0 firmware because I thought that was what had caused the problem, but I'm still no better off

I can't seem to put any videos on atm? Even after a restore :(

The videos I'm trying to get on are exactly the same ones that were on before but I still get that message? The only other thing that has changed is iTunes - the latest version? Should I try going back to the older version - would that affect the transfer to the iPod?

Thanks,

SW.

Erm, now my iPod won't respond... The screen say's 'do not disconnect' without the red logo - even though there is no activity? Is there are way to manually shut an iPod down :(

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the supplied iPod/iTunes CD (Which worked before...) and nothing changed; I tried various video's, ones that I knew had work yesterday, but no joy? I don't understand how the same file can work one minute and not the next?

Maybe I've got a bad unit - if so whats the RMA procedure? Is it back to Apple or back to the supplier? Or am I being too hasty?

Thanks for your help ;)

SW.

I can't understand why you're having the problem either, it's very strange.

You could try doing a reset on your ipod I think you need to toggle the Hold switch to on and then off again, next press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, which takes about 6 to 10 seconds.

If you still have problems and bought it in the last 30 days then take it back to the supplier.

Thanks for the info mate.

I meant to reply a bit sooner? I think I've cracked it ;)

I'm using all the original CD software and the 1.0 firmware, and touch wood, things are back to normal!

Cheers,

SW.
